Mayrhofen in summer

Mayrhofen is situated 633m above sea level and surrounded by the summits of the “Zillertaler Alpen”. You easily reach the two hiking areas via the centre of Mayrhofen. The cable cars “Penkenbahn” and Austria’s biggest gondola, with room for 160 persons, “Ahornbahn” elevate you to the top station where you enter the hiking tracks.

Local food and drinks

There you find authentic mountain huts and restaurants offering local food and drinks. Local folk musicians perform live on many places and give the special ambience to the valley and accompany the picturesque scene.

Rafting, Canyoning, Kajak Tour ...

The river “Ziller” gives the name to the valley but you also can practice many activities on and alongside the river. Rafting, Kayak and Canyoning tours are operated by local guides and even fishing the local sweet water fishes can be done. A must see is one of the three gigantic dam lakes that are used to produce clean energy.

Bad weather situtations

In case of bad weather situations we recommend an excursion to the local cheese factory or one of the local distillers. It is also possible to play “Mini Golf” or to use the real golf drivers on the brand new 18 whole course in nearby Uderns.
All of this can be reached with public transport facilities and the nostalgic steam train. So relax and enjoy your time with us!

PS. Did you know that in our valley skiing is possible throughout the whole year? Within 25 minutes from Mayrhofen you reach the amazing glacier area in “Hintertux”. Have fun!
